Warrensburg Cat Advocates Awarded $5,000 National Grant from Best Friends Animal Society Following Overwhelming Public Support

Warrensburg Cat Advocates (WCA) is proud to announce it has been awarded a $5,000 grant from Best Friends Animal Society as part of the inaugural Pet Lovers’ Choice Awards—a nationwide celebration fueled by more than 10 million votes from passionate animal advocates across the country.
Out of 116 animal welfare organizations selected nationwide, WCA earned this funding thanks to the incredible support of its community—proving once again that when people rally for animals, lives are changed.
“This isn’t just a grant—it’s a direct reflection of a community that refuses to look away,” said Sarah Chamberlin, Warrensburg Cat Advocates president. “Every vote, every share, every moment of support helped turn compassion into action for the cats who need it most.”
The $5,000 award will directly support WCA’s ongoing mission to:
Rescue and rehabilitate vulnerable cats
Expand spay/neuter efforts to reduce overpopulation
Provide medical care and safe shelter
Connect cats with loving, forever homes
At a time when animal welfare organizations across the country are experiencing a downturn in donations, this funding arrives at a critical moment—helping ensure that lifesaving programs not only continue, but grow.
“This support keeps momentum going,” added Chamberlin. “Without it, communities risk sliding backward into the cycle of overpopulation. With it, we keep moving forward—together.”
